A very very Happy EID MUBARAK
>>>>>>>all the way from Karachi, Pakistan. >>>>>>>>>>
Well...First comes CHAAND RAAT( the night before Eid). Women and girls go to parlours for beauty rituals- facials, cleansing, haircut, manicures, pedicures etc. Parlours are usually seen extended with a tent to accommodate the hoards of women there for MEHNDI ( Henna) to decorate etheir hands with. People roam about in streets, malls, etc to see the glitz and excitement of that blissful night. Some of us pray to ALLAH in the night as this is the night when ALLAH PAK gives us the reward of 30 days fasting by accepting our prayers and wishes!
The Eid day is celebrated starting off with Namaz eid-ul-fitr. Then everyone come home we get Eidi ( goodwill money on Eid). We get dressed up like dolls wearing new clothes, bangles, jewellery, make up, shoes- just totally trendy and tip-top!!. Dishes are made -mostly sweet dishes, kheerm, sheer khorma, Vermicelli, cakes, sweet meat etc. and for main course Biryani, Quorma, Nihari, Haleem spread out over days to come! Then we go out to visit neighbours- exchange Eid gifts and cards. The emails and sms are full of Eid greetings !
In the evening people have dawats(dinners) at each other homes esp. relatives. Long prevalent problems, grudges are forgotten. everyone calls out or reaches out to the other person to meet. Usually we have 3-4 working days off in Islamic countries. I wish our Muslim people in other countries also got the same. Second day is usually for family friends or social circle when people go out for dinners usually. Sometimes young ones gather to watch cinema late night, but mostly Films are shown on Tv these days. The tv. offers a real wide variety of Eid related programmes mostly- comedy ones, witty ones, songs etc
p.s. Just finished uploading a rather vibrant (too gawdy for most) Header..but yeahh am happiee shappy..so lemme be!! ;-)))

Hahahhahahha, you're funny! Confused me someone else, huh? that's ok. I'm actually not this silly in person, but that's the Blessing of the online world, hai na? We can act a little different but stay true to our values, principles, etc.
1. I AM A TOTAL AMERICAN! Born and raised - born a little outside NYC, then at age 2, moved to the west coast and been there ever since (extended family also there)so . . .
2. Never started to Pakistan, so can't really have left! hehe. Yeah, I fooled a fellow PK (from Norway) medical student here once with my Urdu, he though I was I have been to your lovely city of Karachi in '89, and '02. My Baji there, her name is Sadaf (she's got two naughty little sons, they live close to her mum's hosue, in Defense Colony) - love her to death, we keep in touch, so we are very close, even though we don't get to see each other much (though Skype has helped in recent times).
Parents born in India (Abba-Bangalore, Amma-Patna) but I've only been to Bangalore to see my big family there and to visit Delhi, Mumbai and Agra (Taj Mahal, man it takes one's breath away!).
Oh, I do use behn out of respect, but out of affection too - I grew up with cousin-sisters (4 out of 5 cousins I grew up with were girls), so you all have an extra soft spot in my heart.
Oh, as for the potential mrs, I am away from home (Prague) and won't be home til December, but khala said she might come then, but not sure. Otherwise it's e-mail until she does, but for now, no permission yet to talk. Just wanted to share it with you.
Oh, the exam is in Neurology and Psychiatry. Then class starts in October - final year of med school. Please, lots of du'a!
OK, sorry I've turned your E'id post into another interview session. Maaf keegiye.
